Odds & Ends

Handy information about the little details and particulars of our parish.

Please call the parish office at 941-795-1228 if you can't find your answer on our website.

  • Holy water

Motion-activated hands-free holy water fonts are located at each entrance. Place your hand under the unit and a small amount of holy water is released.

A large tank of holy water is located in the chapel vestibule. Use the tap along with the funnel to fill your personal container. Small holy water bottles are available next to the tank for a $2 donation.

  • Handicap seating

There are two dedicated areas for handicap seating.

#1) Behind the Readers' chairs, on the west side of the church. This area is large and can accommodate several wheelchairs. Communion is brought to the pews.

#2) At the center aisle in the front pews of the second sections. This area can accommodate walkers only, which the ushers will move and then return to you. Communion is brought to the pews.

See this map for a visual guide.

  • Hearing loop

Our hearing loop transmits sound directly to your hearing aids or cochlear implants. This technology improves the clarity of speech and music, and reduces background noise.

Use your hearing aid's T SETTING to activate.

(Compatible with hearing aids that have a telecoil.)

  • Food collections

Monthly food collections take place on the second weekend of every month.

Donations are dropped off in the blue barrels by the church entrances. If the barrels aren't present, place donations in the corner of the vestibule by the window. Donations can be brought any weekend.

Please do not bring fresh, perishable food items.

Each month the collection benefits one of these local ministries: St. Vincent de Paul, Our Daily Bread, St. Joseph Food Pantry, SOLVE Maternity Home, and Stillpoint House of Prayer.

  • Lost and found

Our lost and found basket is on a table in the church vestibule, next to the doors as you exit.

  • Cry Room

The Cry Room is located at the back of the church. You can enter from the church, or use the door near the restrooms.

  • Poor boxes

Set into the wall at every entrance in the church and chapel are POOR BOXES. These donations support the charitable works of our parish chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

  • Gift shop

The Gift Shop is located in the church vestibule. It is open September through March after all weekend Masses, or by appointment.

  • Memorial candles

A bank of memorial candles is located in both the church and chapel vestibules.

To light these electric candles, just push the button. They will stay lit for 3 hours.

All donations placed in the slot by the candles go to St Vincent de Paul Society.

  • Perpetual memorial candles

The perpetual memorial candles are located on the wall of the chapel vestibule.

Each candle stays lit continuously for one year in memory of one person, indicated on the nameplate.

To arrange for a perpetual candle for your loved one, please visit or call the parish office 941-795-1228. (An annual donation secures the memorial candle.)

All donations placed in the slot by the candles go to St Vincent de Paul Society.

  • Stations of the Cross

    Indoors:

Along the interior walls of the church are carved wooden panels representing the 14 Stations of the Cross. The mural represents the 15th Station, the Resurrection.

We pray the Stations of the Cross, with music, on Fridays during Lent at 7pm.

    Outdoors:

Along the small lake at the northwest edge of our campus is a Stations of the Cross path. Pamphlets are provided at each end of the path on the wooden posts.
