What is Lent?

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation, readying ourselves to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we deepen our relationship with Jesus through prayer and Scripture reading; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.

Are you satisfied with your priorities in life right now?

Lent is your time to...

  • Focus on what matters most and leave behind what matters least
  • Re-commit to your spiritual life
  • Abandon self-destructive habits and create life-giving habits
  • Declutter your busy life and make room for the abundant life Jesus promises
  • Prepare to rise to new life with Jesus at Easter.
