“For the music of creation

For the song your Spirit sings,

For your sound, divine expressions

Burst of joy in living things:

God, our God, the world’s composer,

Hear us, echoes of your voice……

Music is your art, your glory,

Let the human heart rejoice.”

-Murray

Welcome to Music Ministry!

Saints Peter & Paul the Apostles is blessed with many musical volunteers and our Music Ministry is a true extension of our community. We are a group of dedicated people who believe in the power of prayer through song to lead our congregation.

~

If you love to sing, JOIN OUR CHORALE this year!

Reading music is not required, just a love of singing and the ability to carry a tune. We do all styles of music and special choral works. The Chorale practices on Wednesday nights 7:00-8:30pm, and sings Sundays at the 9:30am Mass.

~

We have  5 MUSIC MINISTRY GROUPS!

Click the button below to explore these opportunities.

If you are not musically inclined but want to be part of the Music Ministry, BE A CLICKER!

Your role would be to click the slides that are projected on the walls during Mass. It is easy to do: sit next to our laptop computer and click the powerpoint slides as music is sung or words are spoken. We need one Clicker per Mass.

Contact Lori Martin at lmartin@sspeterandpaul.org or call 941-269-4416 to join in or for more information!

Q & A s
  • Is the music ministry for you?

Our music ministry welcomes all members of the community who wish to share their musical talents.  Adults (high school & up), trained and untrained vocalists, and experienced instrumentalists are invited to join.

  • Don't you already have all the members you need?

Not at all!  Our music ministry needs you!  Without volunteer ministers from this parish, our music ministry would not be possible.  All voice parts are needed!

  • What if I don’t read music or have any formal training?

Most of our choir members do not have professional musical training.  This is attained through ongoing training under their director and experience.  Our Chorale is the perfect choir for anyone wishing to be in choir, learn music skills, and worship together in song.

  • I can't commit to a full year. Can I still be in the choir?

Yes!   You can join us for the Christmas and/or Easter Triduum season as your time allows.

Those rehearsal schedules will be posted in advance in the bulletin and here on the website.

You are welcome to learn seasonal music and participate in this capacity.

  • Is there a way to listen to parts and practice at home?

Absolutely! Lori sends out weekly recordings of hymns and Mass parts and also records parts to our larger anthems too!

It is a great way to feel prepared at rehearsal and have extra help if a particular song is new or difficult.

  • I want to join. What's my next step?

Reach out to Lori Martin, our music director.

Email her at lmartin@sspeterandpaul.org or call 941-269-4416.

Or, stop by the music area after Mass and introduce yourself.

MEET LORI MARTIN

I am truly excited to be leading the music ministry here at Ss. Peter and Paul the Apostles! I come with a heart full of love for church work, music, building community, and praising God through song.

Originally from Michigan, Jim, my husband, and our dog, Lily, arrived in the Sarasota area in August 2021.   We have three adult children: Kathryn, Elizabeth and Michael and love to travel with them and enjoy our family time together.

I began playing organ in church when I was 14 and have a strong background in music, holding degrees in Piano Performance/ Pedagogy and Choral Conducting. I graduated from Michigan State University, DePaul University in Chicago, and furthered my liturgical education through Notre Dame. I have a passion for teaching and building choirs and had the privilege of taking choirs to Europe to sing at Masses and concerts.

I look forward to working with our choirs to provide concerts in this parish. My absolute favorite moments in church is when I hear the congregation singing out praising God in song!

I am deeply grateful to Fr. Gordon for welcoming me to lead this ministry, and I am excited to work alongside such a wonderful staff here at Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostles parish.

I hope you will join our choir!  All voices are welcome!

Blessings and Joy,

LORI MARTIN
