• Hospitality & Assistance •

Ushers & Greeters play a vital role at Mass and ensure the Mass runs smoothly. Their services include:

  • Welcoming: Ushers greet people as they arrive, especially those who may be unfamiliar with the church
  • Bulletins: Ushers hand a bulletin to people as they come in so they can see the hymns
  • Seating: Ushers help people find seats, including those with special needs or who are late
  • Collection: Ushers collect the offertory and bring it to the altar. They may also assist with a second collection
  • Communion: Ushers direct the Communion lines and assist those who need help receiving it
  • Safety and cleanliness: Ushers ensure the sanctuary is clean and safe before and after Mass
  • Emergencies: Ushers handle medical emergencies, service disruptions, or church evacuations
  • Attendance: Ushers count and record the number of people in attendance

Ushers arrive 30 minutes before Mass starts. They should dress appropriately, representing the parish community. For example, men may wear slacks, a collared dress shirt, or a polo shirt, while women may wear dresses, pant suits, or skirts.
